note from the editor
This has been one of the busier few months of my life that I can remember. Notably, traveling to attend a family wedding in Hawaii as a family of three and preparing for the birth of our second son. Two, once in a lifetime experiences. Though our firstborn son is now only two, I had forgotten what it is like to have a newborn in the house. Alas, even with a busy first half of the year, I felt Volume II was to center around a theme of rest.
While welcoming a newborn into our family is quite disruptive, we have found ourselves at home a lot these days. Snuggling a newborn is anything but productive. And sleepless nights sure don’t feel restful. But, we are learning how to rest amidst a messy house, and what feels like a messy life. We are coming to learn that true rest takes intentionality. And like anything in life worth cultivating, it does not come easily.
I pray you experience moments of rest this summer, as Jesus said in John 14, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” — Isaac Smith
